Duncan Soutar Adjustable Drone Reeds OK, so you have problem drones that need more pitch adjustment than the "Standard" reeds offer. These are a simple and unique design made by Duncan Soutar of St. Andrews. Unlike most synthetic drone reeds which have a tuning plug or tuning screw on the end of the reed, they are tuned by screwing the reed body in or out to adjust the length. Further tuning can also be accomplished by moving the clear bridle. Strength is adjusted by bending the reed tongue. Out of the box, they are adjusted for an easy blow, well matched to the Soutar-soft Chanter reed.
