The Canvas Kilt This is an inexpensive way out if you just cannot afford a Kilt any other way. You can often find 5 yard pieces of cotton duck canvas on eBay for around $20.00 US. Usually 60" or more wide. So, you can split it down the length and make 2 Kilts. A bottle of Rit dye is about $3.50. So, that comes to about $13.50 for a Kilt... OK, you may spend another buck for a foot & a half of velcro. Your local thrift store probably has lots of plaid cowboy shirts. This one cost $1.00 Even if you don't wear it for Piping, this setup is grand for hiking! Add a bigger Sporran or fanny pack, a pair of hiking boots & an Aussie hat. BACK
